On 11/25/2024 we became aware that our system recently failed to collect the correct number of drinking water samples for the Lead and Copper Rule. Although this incident was not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we are doing to correct this situation.

We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. During the 2022-2024 monitoring period, we did not monitor or test. We were required to take 10 lead and copper samples triennially.

What should I do?

There is nothing you need to do. You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions. You may continue to drink the water. If a situation arises where the water is no longer safe to drink, you will be notified within 24 hours.

What is being done?

Sampling for the subsequent monitoring period (2025-2027) has been completed. This missed monitoring violation was returned to compliance on October 6, 2026.

Cell Tower Update

The initiative to amend the CCRs of Royal Oaks Unit 3 to permit a cell tower on lot 106 (2275 W. Glenshandra) did not receive the required 51% approval and did not pass. There will be no cell tower on lot 106.

PFOA Testing

In September, 2022 Granite Oaks Water Users Association tested water from the wells supplying water to the water system. The water was tested for the PFOA and PFOS compounds of concern that were recently discovered in wells in Prescott and Chino Valley. The tests performed on the water from the GOWUA wells showed no traceable evidence of those chemicals in water from the GOWUA wells.

At its open meeting on September 22, 2020 the Arizona Corporation Commission approved a rate increase requested by Granite Oaks Water Users Association in an application filed April 22, 2020. The rate increase will be effective October 1, 2020. See the notice HERE.

Mission Statement

Provide a safe, reliable and continuous water supply at a reasonable cost.

We are a non-profit water utility corporation founded in July, 1989, regulated by the Arizona Corporation Commission. Our service area includes the subdivisions of Royal Oaks, Granite Oaks and Granite Oaks Estates.

All homeowners within these subdivisions are shareholders of the corporation. The corporation elects a board of directors currently consisting of seven members. Each member is elected for a three-year term. Terms are staggered so that only two or three members are elected each year.
